Miguel Buckenmeyer is a communications specialist and art director, with strengths in newspaper, magazine and business information design. Most recently, Miguel was the creative force and art director behind El Economista, the Spanish business newspaper launched in 2006. Miguel has worked for internationally recognized newspapers in the United States as well as Spain and has participated in editorial prototype creation and redesign projects in France, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and Venezuela.
His work has won a variety of awards from and has been featured in the publications of the Society of News Design, the Society of Publication Designers and the Type Directors Club. Miguel believes that editorial and information design—like good journalism or story telling—
exists to communicate ideas simply and efficiently. Good information design should be easy to read and navigate. It also a key component of differentiating brands as well as attracting communities around those brands.
In addition to his creative and design skills and craftsmanship, Miguel has analytical and project management skills to help his clients solve problems and deliver projects on time and within budget. Miguel’s broad work experience in the publishing and banking industries, having spent several years as a financial analyst, uniquely positions him to help corporations and financial services firms communicate their message to stakeholders and clients through design and visuals.
Miguel has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California San Diego and master’s degree in international relations, with a concentration in international finance, from Georgetown University. Miguel lives with his wife and child in Madrid, Spain. For fun, he studies financial analysis and philosophy. He most admires John Paul II and Warren Buffett.
